Curriculum

A holistic academic approach requires an elaborate framework and planning. It is the concern of every parent to choose the best possible curriculum for their kids. In our country, the trend has been slightly different. Most parents think good schooling is merely having a wonderful infrastructure and qualified teachers, but that alone is not enough.

The curriculum can be compared to a grand narrative that keeps the school’s vision and mission on track. It includes setting educational goals as well as the rationale for those goals. The selection of a particular curriculum often spells the difference “excellent” and “mediocre”. At E.P.S. we believe that an integrated curriculum facilitates measuring the student’s progress which is crucial for the academic excellence of the students and thereby the institute.

A well designed and holistic curriculum offers maximum learning experience and brings down the unproductive time spells in the classroom. It also prepares students to explore their own academic tastes and interests.

The importance of a well-balanced curriculum is highly advantageous for students who get less supplemental learning and exposure due to various reasons. Moreover, a coherent curriculum is vital for the full development of the students thinking faculties.
There is little dispute that the curriculum chosen by the student will go a long way to determine the course and success of his/her chosen career. A balanced curriculum will endow students with sound knowledge to be successful, confident and responsible which we believe is the core purpose of all learning.

Junior School

Education is a life – long journey and the School realizes the importance of a good start. It is here that the foundation for the love of learning is laid and strengthened. At the Junior School level, the School expects the students to entrench the basics and explore the world. They learn to question, analyze, classify and communicate their perceptions.

An unconventional system of education is adopted by the School where education is imparted through play-way methods and concepts are taught via origami, clay modeling, sand play, and painting. A suitably designed child-centered curriculum based on phonetics provides the children with a strong foundation of spelling and vocabulary. The entire course establishes and strengthens vital skills like motor and reading skills, language and communication skills, writing and number concepts. Bridging the gap between the nurturing environment of home and the disciplined demands of formal education is the primary goal of the School.

Teachers enrich the curriculum through music, art, library and computer programs. The students also learn about the significance of festivals and are encouraged to imbibe Indian values in their lives.

Middle School

The curriculum ensures special inputs for the students adept at any field from Languages, Mathematics, Science and Technology or Performing Arts. It takes care of the increasing range of opportunities and the astounding variety of careers opening up due to the phenomenal developments. The third language offered takes into consideration new economic trends and changing geopolitical phenomena.

Every moment is an opportunity to learn and classrooms turn into laboratories and playgrounds with the added element of fun. Thus, while basic principles and theories are taught in the classroom, this is not the only arena in which academic instruction takes place. Students learn from experience and analysis. Scientific temperament is honed and our practices ensure that students never hesitate to question a statement or clarify a doubt.

A great deal of emphasis is placed on ‘one-on-one’ teaching and interaction with people eminent in diverse fields. The low teacher-student ratio allows each student to be treated as an individual.

Senior School

The Senior Wing of the school strives to maintain excellence in academics to enable the students to stand at par in today’s competitive world. The conformity with the CBSE pattern ensures the holistic development of the students encapsulating scholastic and co-scholastic aspects including Life-Skills, Attitudes, and Values, Performing Arts, Health and Physical Education. The prime focus is to bring forth innovation in teaching-learning methodologies by devising student-friendly and student-centered paradigms. In addition to academics, the emphasis is laid on dexterity, innovation, steadiness, teamwork, athletics, public speaking, behavior, etc.

This, in turn, provides opportunities to the students to showcase their talents in fields like Arts, Humanities, Sports, and Music, etc.

Faculty

The E.P.S faculty broadens the learning experience. The highly qualified and trained staff not only implements the curriculum but also breeds enthusiasm for learning and questioning. Each teacher’s interaction with the students goes beyond the usual facilitator’s areas of pastoral and parental concern.

Teachers are totally involved with the children, in it all academic and co-curricular activities. Be it in the sports field or the sphere of publications or debates, teachers take an active interest and share a healthy rapport with the students. Workshop

The teachers at E.P.S. go through several hours of workshops and training programs to be in sync with the latest developments in their particular subjects and other levels. The workshops are conducted by all the departments on a regular basis and empower the E.P.S facilitators. Some of the recent workshops have themes focused on ‘Effective Teaching Skills’; ’Learning through Senses’, ‘Art is the manifestation of the truth that beholds the eye’ etc.

Apart from external resource persons, the school faculty members are encouraged to conduct collaborative workshops wherein each member of the department puts forth her/his contribution.

Study Tours And Excursions

The world definitely stretches beyond the boundaries of a textbook and us at E.P.S. advocate just that. Running parallel to academics is our mission to accomplish the holistic education of our students. Planned expeditions and Study tours form an integral part of our program as these intend to break down the set structures created by classroom teaching, exposing our students to a reality outside their limited experience so that they may learn to cope with unexpected difficulties and in the process, mature.

Assembly

The Morning Assembly adorned by the Special Presentations is an essential part of the school schedule. Each section has its own special day to conduct the assembly with the help of their Class Teacher in the course of the academic year. It helps in exposing each student to both Indian and other world cultures through celebrations of days such as Holi, Raksha Bandhan, Diwali, Christmas. etc.

The Assembly is an opportunity for displaying the inexhaustible talent of students. It fosters the spirit of group activity, leadership and value building. It also acknowledges the efforts of the silent learners in the class who are equally participative in organizing the class assembly.
